The automatic identification system (AIS) is an automatic tracking system used on ships and by vessel traffic services (VTS) for identifying and locating vessels by electronically exchanging data with other nearby ships, AIS base stations, and satellites.
S/Y Romar has a Raymarine AIS650 installed together with a Raymarine AIS100 splitter. AIS650 is a class B AIS intended for pleasure craft and smaller commercial vessels. The AIS100 splitter allows sharing antenna with the VHF raidio.
It has receiver for both Class A and B at the same time it is sending vital anti-collision data including vessel name, course, speed, callsign and MMSI number on channel B.
AIS650 comes with integrated SD disk reader that allows you to store up to 2GB of AIS data on an SD Card. To ensure optimum positioning accuracy AIS650 comes with new built-in 50 channel GPS receiver. AIS650 has SeaTalkng for connection to Raymarine’s multifunction displays via SeaTalkng which is also compatible with NMEA2000.
