Retirement around the corner and the children are well established – it’s time for realizing dreams! Not a beach house in southern Spain, but following the wake of the Vikings toward the west and then through the North West Passage in the wake of Gjøas expedition in 1903-1906.
May 1, 2017 I throw loss in a 37-40″ sailboat and will sail alone from Bergen, Norway. I’m not going to let this be a hazard project, but more a test on physical and mental strength. The project will therefore be implemented in a proper and safe manner. I’ll be safely arriving in Vancouver, Canada on September 1, 2017.
I shall follow the Vikings’ course towards the west and visit Norse settlements on the road. From Bergen the course will go to Shetland, Orkney, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and on to the L’Anse aux Meadows on the northern tip of Newfoundland. Then sailing up the Labrador coast and enter the wake of Amundsen’s voyage with Gjøa. Following this over to Alaska and then sail on to Vancouver in Canada. Will obviously documenting the journey both on our own website, through tracking online and through video. Will also try to get a TV production of the material. In addition, the printed articles in Norwegian and international magazines and magazine.
The running budget of this journey is in the scale of 100 000 USD, excluding the sailing boat. I will be grateful for any contributions.
Follow us on this web page from May 1st 2017.
